Population Dynamics and Infectious Diseases in Asia
Singapore: World Scientific Publishing, December 2006
Edited by: Adrian C. Sleigh, Chee Heng Leng, Brenda S.A. Yeoh, Phua Kai Hong and Rachel Safman
This timely volume considers the potentially lethal pattern of infectious disease emergence in Asia. It explores the causes and consequences of infectious agents in the region historically and examines such newly emergent natural biological threats as SARS, HIV/AIDS and avian influenza, as well as resurging problems such as tuberculosis. It employs multiple perspectives and places the issues of emerging infection in the context of population dynamics and development of the whole Asian region.
The majority of chapter authors are Asian scholars drawn from universities, institutes and governments across the region.
