Associate Professor Vipan Prachuabmoh is a demographer, Faculty Member and former Dean of the College of Population Studies at Chulalongkorn University. Her main research interests lie in the fields of fertility, aging, and population policy, on which she has published many articles. In 2009, she and her research team received the National Research Council of Thailand’s Award for Best Research in Sociology for their project “Setting-Up the System for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Second National Plan for Older Persons (2002–2021).”
Prachuabmoh received her PhD in Sociology from University of Chicago. She was awarded the University of Chicago Hewlett Fund Fellowship[rr1] (1987–1990) and the Population Council Fellowship (1990–1991).
She serves on several government boards related to issues of aging and development. She also serves as a President of the Thai Population Association, Second Vice President of the Thai Society of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine, Treasurer of the Asian Population Association, and is a co-principal investigator[rr2] of the Asian Meta Centre for Population and Sustainable Development Analysis.
[rr1]Are these two things? Either “Unendowed and Hewlett Fund Fellowships” or “Hewlett Fund Fellowship”
[rr2]This seems like an odd title. Usually, I think PI and co-PI refer to roles in specific research projects, not positions at research centers.
